The Indy 500

Witnessing the annual Tag Heuer Indy 500 race is an awesome experience and a must for every race car enthusiast and Hoosier alike. This two week event in downtown Indianapolis is an affordable opportunity to see a Formula 1 like race live in action and guarantees great fun for the entire family.



For everyone wondering, why the race is called the Indy 500, it's because the drivers have to race 500 miles (200 laps) on the 2.5-miles long race track. 

During the two weeks leading up to the race, fans can watch practice, time trials and many other events. One of the highlights is always the Miller Lite Carb Day. 

Miller Lite Carb Day traditionally kicks off the Memorial Day weekend at he Speedway with the last practice for the teams, a Pit Stop Challenge, and a concert. It always takes place two days before the actual race.

The Tag Heuer Pit Stop Challenge is a tradition where the drivers and their pit crews compete against each other in finishing a pit stop in the fastest time. The first prize is bragging rights for one year and $50,000 prize money.

Interested spectators can also visit the garages, meet the drivers and learn interesting facts about the cars and everything mechanic.
